2028 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Moving to The Lakewood Club

By Julia Pine, USGA | October 15, 2026

The USGA today announced that the 2028 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur Championship, originally slated to be contested at Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville, Tenn., has been relocated to The Lakewood Club at the Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection, in Point Clear, Ala. The dates of the championship (Sept. 9-14) will remain the same.

The U.S. Senior Women's Amateur site is being moved due to upcoming golf course master planning work at Belle Meade that will prevent the club from hosting the championship as scheduled.

The Lakewood Club, which was originally scheduled to host the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur in 2029, has agreed to move up in the championship order. A 2029 site will be announced at a later date.

"We appreciate Belle Meade's partnership and understand the need for them to make this change," said Mark Hill, USGA managing director, Championships. "We are grateful to The Lakewood Club for stepping in to host the championship in 2028 and for its flexibility."

Founded in 1947, The Lakewood Club is a member of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The championship will be played on the club's Dogwood Course, designed by Perry Maxwell. The club hosted the 1974, 1986 and 2021 U.S. Senior Women's Amateurs, which were won by Justine B. Cushing, Constance Guthrie and Lara Tennant, respectively.

The U.S. Senior Women's Amateur is open to any female golfer who is at least 50 years old as of Sept. 26 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 14.4. The winner of the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur earns a spot into the following two U.S. Senior Women's Opens.
