Bring Your Old Books Scramble
December 5, 2010 • 10:30 a.m. Trail-wide Shotgun Start
This year be a part of the Largest Golf Tournament on the Planet!
This year’s Bring Your Old Buddy will be held on Sunday, December 5th at all of our RTJ Golf Trail locations, except Lakewood Golf Club. This event saw a record number of players at over 1,300 in 2007 and even during last year's down time saw over 1,200 players. This year we are aiming for 1,500 by adding courses. Get your team together and enter soon as most sites will sell out early. Everyone is invited and single players will be paired by our staff. The field is limited to the first 120 participants or 30 teams on each Trail course. This year is Bring Your Old Books for local schools. I recently spoke with a principal from a local school and she was thrilled to hear about the work we do with this event and we started talking about what BYOB might be able to do for the local school programs. We thought that asking players to bring old age appropriate novels, dictionaries and encyclopedias to help stock the shelves of local schools would be a wonderful addition to the event. I hope that you can help by bringing those old books that are taking up space in the attic or bookshelf and donate to this cause. If you want more information on this please e-mail BYOB@rtjgolf.com. This year’s event, as always, will raise money for charity. In the first five years of this event we have raised thousands for various Alabama charities and we hope to break the record this year for money raised. Along with your entry fee you can also donate money to these charities directly by check or credit card or by sponsoring a hole at the event. Charities we have supported include: Big Oaks boys and Girls Ranch, Exceptional Foundation, Children’s Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Salvation Army, First Tee Program, The Alabama Ear Institute and the Nature Conservancy of Alabama. WE NEED SPONSORS! We are looking for sponsorship dollars to help with our charity donations. There are several levels available. *Gold Event sponsorship is $5000 and includes four teams in the event. Your company or name listed on all event documentation and banners as a Gold Sponsor.
